How Gozal Inc. Turned Tire Pressure Alerts Into Action
How Gozal Inc. uses tire pressure alerts to investigate issues early and turn readings into maintenance action.
A low-pressure tire can sideline a truck. For Gozal Inc., a family-owned trucking company, finding problems before they disrupt operations is a safety and financial priority. Chief Financial Officer William Ward wanted more timely information than a one-time pressure check could provide.
“Safety is our primary focus. I saw the way people were testing [tire pressure] was with a hammer. That’s not exactly what I consider to be accurate. I wanted more real-time information and Revvo provides it. [As CFO] my goals are financials. When a truck goes out of service, it costs money. If the pressure is too low, the truck goes out of service.”
Gozal started with a small pilot, installing sensors on a handful of trucks so the fleet team could evaluate the readings and build confidence in them. The fleet department watches the alerts and follows up with drivers when a reading needs attention. Ward described how that works on the road:
“[Our fleet managers] use Revvo so that we know we’re getting proactive readings. If we see a low pressure they’ll contact the driver. We know how much fuel they have, we know how much longer they’ve got to go. We’ll say ‘Hey, we’re getting a lower reading on your front right tire. Next stop, please check it with the gauge, and if it’s down, we need air in it.’”
That process mattered when one pressure alert kept returning. Mechanics resealed the tire, but the pressure still dropped. A manual gauge confirmed the loss, and further inspection revealed a cracked rim leaking slowly. For Ward, the finding captured why the team wanted proactive readings:
“If we didn’t have Revvo, we would have never known about that slow leak. The driver might have just consistently put a little air in it and then all of a sudden it gets too hot or too cold, we could have had a problem. That’s the biggest positive [of Revvo]. This proactively identified a problem there’s no way we would have known about until a crisis.”
The alert did not identify the cracked rim on its own. It gave Gozal a signal to verify, and the repeated pressure loss kept the team investigating until mechanics found the cause. That closed the loop between monitoring and maintenance: instead of leaving a slow leak unexplained, Gozal had a specific issue to address and a practical way to respond when tire pressure begins to fall.
